The Exchange Club of Columbus has selected their local winner in the Georgia District Exchange Youth of the Year competition. Ritika Chandra of Columbus High School was awarded the Youth of the Year Award, presented to the outstanding student selected from all the Exchange Club’s Youth of the Month recipients. The selection is made based on high levels of scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership. The Youth of the Month winners are asked to write an essay entitled “Social Responsibility in our Community” and the overall selection is based in part on the essay. Also recognized were other Youth of the month winners, Jerimiah Jones from Carver, Derek Huell from Columbus, and Julia Aquirre form Northside. As the local winner, Ritika’s entry package will be forwarded to the Georgia District competition where she will compete for the District top prize and a $1500 scholarship award. The Georgia District winner is submitted to National Exchange for entry in the Youth Of The Year competition for a $10,000 scholarship award.
