The Exchange Club Of Albany has selected their club’s local A.C.E. Award winner as part of the club’s youth awards program. A.C.E. stands for Accepting the Challenge of Excellence. This program recognizes high school students who have made a dramatic change in their attitude and performance during their high school years. These changes have enabled the students to overcome adversities and prepare for graduation. The winner is Lilia Sullivan and she attends Deerfield Windsor School. Both she and her sister were diagnosed with a type of brain cancer. Through numerous hours of brain surgery, protracted days of radiation and continuous months of chemotherapy they continued their studies and stayed up with their class. They were honored to become the Polo in the Pines honorees for 2017. Although this was a two day event, due to inclement weather they held it for one day but still had record breaking results increasing the previous year results of $ 50,000 to $ 345,000 dollars for children like her battling for their lives!!! The local Albany winner is now in competition for the Georgia District Exchange Clubs A.C.E. Award program, The Georgia winner goes on to National competition and the possibility of winning a $10,000 scholarship.
