The local competition for the Georgia District American Citizenship Speech Contest was recently held by the Exchange Club of Dublin. Contestants must write a patriotic speech and recite it from memory. Winners of the local competitions present their speeches before judges at the Georgia District Convention where a District wide winner is selected and awarded a $1500 award. There were three participants representing high schools in our county: Emilee Newsome, Eve Pike, and Sydney Stevens.
