Columbus Hears About School For The Arts Soon To Open

Jennifer Allen introduced us to Dr. Billy Kendall to the Exchange Club of Columbus. Dr. Kendall is a former Muscogee County School District official and a community advocate/volunteer for the arts. Dr. Kendall gave the club a briefing on the Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts. He explained that the whole process for the school started years ago when the Chamber of Commerce discovered a similar school on one of their city exchange visits. That discovery planted the seed, and a committee was organized to explore the venture for Columbus. Much thought and planning has gone into the process and the school will open in August 2017! The school will hold about 600 students and will cover the 6th-12th grades. The school’s mission is that in collaboration with the community they are dedicated to the development of the talent and creative potential of young adults in an integrated academic environment. What an exciting addition to our community. We are indeed grateful for the vision of Dr. Kendall and his colleagues to bring this project from vision to fruition in Columbus!
