Waycross hears about STEM

· Reading Time: 1 minute

The Exchange Club of Waycross recently hosted Millie Price, STEM Coach for K-12 elementary schools, at a recent club meeting. She explained why Ware County schools have “STEM”. STEM teaching combines instruction content with two or more content areas thereby teaching skills connected to real life. Students can learn skills and upon graduation or continued education get hired in local businesses. Students are exposed to every subject area connected to other areas to understand the value of math and service skills thereby planting seeds for future career options as early as Pre-K! Competitions have proficiency at Regional, National, and State levels. Students become aware of a future role in NASA for example. Collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking are encouraged in every class. This is a great service to our students!
