Richmond Hill hosts annual Fishing Derby

· Reading Time: 1 minute

The Exchange Club of Richmond Hill recently held their 28th Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby on June 1 at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery. Over 250 children plus an equal number of parents and grandparents attended, making this one of the most successful events to date. Since it’s beginning there has been over 6,000 area children to participate. It is truly an activity eagerly anticipated by the community and provides a great opportunity for families to get together for fun outdoors and a chance to get back to nature. There is never any charge to anyone to participate in the derby. Door prizes were also given away to numerous children during the event. Trophies were awarded for largest single fish and most total pounds of fish to children in two age groups—six and under, and seven to twelve.
